With having entered the new millenium, the range of Hitachi inverter & industrial Products had a fault free transition from the year 1999 to 2000 due to its complete range being Year 2000 compliant.

Due to some of the PLC's having real time clock's, which can be set to any date, below is relevant archive information on our products and their year 2000 Compliance.

The definition of Year 2000 conformity requirements

Year 2000 conformity shall mean that neither performance nor functionality is affected by dates prior to, during and after the Year 2000.

In Particular:

  • No value for current date will cause any interruption in operation.
  • Date-based functionality must behave consistently for dates prior to, during and after Year 2000.
  • In all interfaces and data storage, the century in any date must be specified either explicitly or by unambiguos algorithms or inferencing rules.
  • Year 2000 must be recognised as a leap year.

HITACHI Inverters

The following range of Hitachi inverters are classed as non-IT items and do utilise micro-processor chips, however they are not dependant on a date for correct performance and therefore did comply with the Year 2000 conformity;

'VWM' Series
'VWS' Series
'J' Series
'SJ' Series
'VWE' Series
'VWA' Series
'L' Series

HITACHI PLC's

The following range of Hitachi PLC CPU’s do incorporate real time clocks. These real time clocks are not used in internal operations of the PLC and no re-programming will be required, therefore compliant with the Year 2000 conformity;

(*) Note:

From the list above the H-200 and all H Board PLC's did require the unit to be powered up during the Millennium changeover. If this is was not done the year became 1900 after supplying the power to the unit.

If the power could not be applied to the unit during the Millennium changeover, the cure was to reset the clock after the changeover has occured
.

The following range of Hitachi PLC's do not incorporate real time clocks. therefore compliant with the Year 2000 conformity;

'P' Series 'D' Series 'E' Series 'EM' Series
'C' Series 'J' Series 'EB' Series 'EC' Series

HID Ltd - Business Systems
